Jhalawar district is surrounded by and well-connected to developed industrial and commercial cities like Indore, Ujjain, Ratlam, Bhopal, and Kota. National highway No. 12, which connects Jaipur (Rajasthan) to Jabalpur (M.P.), passes through various towns of district like Jhalawar, Jhalara Patan, and Aklera. Broad gauge railway line connecting Delhi to Mumbai via Kota, Ratlam passes through the district through Jhalawar Road and Bhawani Mandi.    

Agricultural arena of the district is very rich. Major productions in the district are of Soyabean, Citrus, Opium, Wheat, and Dhania. Many of the small-scale industries running in the district are totally dependent on the agricultures.

District has its name in exporting various productions like Synthetic yarns, Oranges, Fiber Yarns, Kota Stone etc.
  

 

District Industrial Center, Jhalawar was established in June, 1978. The objective of DIC is to provide guidance, basic services, and financial services/facilities to entrepreneurs and industrialists and to make and activate plans for industrial development in the district. 

DIC is serving through various plans, services and facilities to rural  / urban industrialists and educated unemployed people for the development of Jhalawar district as a industrial center.
 

* Small Scale Industries & Handicraft Units

          Up to March 2008, 6838 small-scale & artisans industries are registered to the DIC, which absorbs 18526 people and the total investment is of 3109.05 lakh rupees. Major industries are of Stone cutting, Stone Polishing, Vegetable Oil, Henna Powder, Readymade Garments, Wood Furniture, Cement-made tanks, PVC pipes, Shoes, Washing Powders , Tyre Retrading, Spices etc.

         4289 Handicraft units are registered in the DIC, which absorbs 8636 people and total investment is of 117.52 lakh rupees. Major units are of Utensils, Stone-pillars, Leather shoes, Clothes, Pickles, Sculptures, Wood-work, Iron-work, Ropes, Brooms, Chatai, etc. . 

* Large Scale Industries

          District had three large scale industries, out of which two are closed now. Rajasthan Taxtile Mills, Bhawani Mandi is the only LMI of the district now. This industry produces Cotton and Synthetic Yarns. Total 3405 employees are working here, and total investment is of around 14282.25 lakh rupees. RTM exports its products to South Africa, Greece, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherland, U.K., Italy, Israd, Portugal, UAE, Ireland, Moritius, Chilie, Brazil, Egypt,Colombia and Newzeland etc.

* Growth Center, Jhalara Patan

          DIC established an industrial growth center near Jhalara Patan, which has total 450 plots for industries. Out of these, 316 plots are allotted to various industries. 110 of the industries are running their operations and remaining are in the process of construction. Major industries in this growth center are of Stone cutting and polishing, Steel Furniture and Almirah, PVC shoes, Agricultural accessories, tractor trolleys, electric transformers, etc.
